Art Safiental
The Art Safiental exhibition features Land Art artworks exclusively created in the natural landscape of the Safiental (Safien Valley). The works on display were realized during the first Alps Art Academy within workshops conducted by international artists together with 30 participants from 22 countries. Explore six, permanent large-scale installations, three interventions by guest artists, a mediation pavilion, nineteen temporary artworks by participants of the Alps Art Academy and four performances.
The site-specific artworks emerged as a result of a transdisciplinary practice in dialog with nature and landscape. They all aim to critically challenge and analyse the historical term Land Art as well as open new perspectives for a future form of Land Art, including other media forms and social practices.
The Land Art works will be displayed throughout the Safiental, from the Rhine Gorge through Versam, Tenna, Thalkirch and Z‘Hinderst. At the Alpenblick hotel in Tenna you will find an exhibition pavilion as well as a small library containing books by participating artists and the history of Land Art. Here, as well as in other locations in the valley, visitors will receive an art hiking map that will lead them to the exact locations of the artworks as well as provide them with information about the exhibition, specific works, Safien Valley and Land Art. – So tie up your hiking boots and discover the contemporary Land Art works to be found within the natural landscape of the Safiental!
