Magali Dougoud: ZOMBIE MERMAIDS – a Song for Future Waters
Safien Platz, KWZ Kraftwerke Zervreila – GPS: 46.678070, 9.315620 – From Safien Platz approx. 5 Min.
This song is a speculative opera about the rage and resistance of cross-species Zombie Mermaids who rebel against established power relations and dominant life forms. It is inspired by legends that connect female beings with bodies of water. The sound piece was created as a collective work between three artists, the river and the environment by recording singing, water, light and sounds with hydrophones, geophones and light-sensitive DIY sensors. The sound is generated by the fluctuating energy of the sun. (JI)
