Alps Art Academy
Taking place in Tenna in the heart of Swiss Alps, the Alps Art Academy is an international summer school dedicated to the theme of Land and Environmental Art. Ever since its inception in 2016, the Academy has been organized in two years intervals with a changing thematic focus. The Alps Art Academy invites artists, theorists, mediators and curators to debate and contest the concept of land and environmental art and its contemporary and local aspects.
The results of the 10-day program are presented in the context of the affiliated Land Art Biennale Art Safiental. An integral part of the Academy is a public, two-day symposium. The bilingual publication series Landscape develops the themes of the Alps Art Academy and discusses them in a broader, international context.
Common to all workshops is the questioning and updating of the historical term Land Art as well as the transdisciplinary practice within which the works are created. The resulting works and texts serve as suggestions for a possible future Land Art, which integrates the landscape, nature and the environment, history and society.
